Seedless tamarind, a 400g block. Sour, sweet and fruity. Soften it in warm water and it goes into the pot. You skip the soak-and-strain you do with whole pods.

Pad thai, sinigang, sambar, chutney and a barbecue sauce all take it. Thai, Indian, Filipino, Malaysian and Mexican kitchens use the same sour. A restaurant keeps a block. The 400g is also a household size.

Cool and dry, then the fridge after you open it. Cut what you need. Do not leave the block uncovered or it dries at the edges.

Key Features

  • Seedless tamarind paste — ready to soften and use
  • Sour-sweet-fruity flavour — the essential Asian souring agent
  • Saves the soak-and-strain step of whole tamarind
  • 400G block — household and small-foodservice size
  • From Chua Hah Seng — established Thai food brand

Applications

  • Chua Hah Seng Tamarind Seedless is a 400G block of seedless tamarind paste from Thailand — the sour-sweet-fruity pulp from tamarind pods that's an essential souring agent in Thai, Indian, Filipino, Malaysian, and Mexican cooking.
