Foster Clark's Bicarbonate of Soda - 450G

Foster Clark's bicarbonate of soda, a 450g pack. Baking soda, the powder a recipe names when it wants lift from an acid, not from baking powder. Bakeries and home bakers keep a pack with the flour.

Use it only in recipes that call for bicarbonate of soda. Cakes, cookies and quick breads need the acidic ingredient the recipe pairs with it. It will not stand in for baking powder. If you swap them, the bake will not behave.

You are buying one 450g pack. The outer carton is 36 packs, which is what a bakery storeroom might take. Measure what the recipe says. Check the label for anything else you need to know before a guest asks.
