Good sushi rice is short or medium grain. It cooks up glossy, stays slightly sticky and holds its shape when you press it into nigiri or roll it in nori. These are the sushi rice sacks Dubai sushi kitchens reorder, each with the price on the page. GGFT has supplied restaurant kitchens since 2004.

Japanese short grain: GGFT Koshihikari, GGFT Akitakomachi and GGFT Akafuji DS-1, grown in Vietnam, in 22.68kg sacks.
-
Calrose: Sunwhite Calrose Rice in a 10kg bag, and Homai Brown Calrose from the USA, 22.68kg.
Rinse the rice until the water runs almost clear, let it drain, then cook it and fold in seasoned vinegar while it's still warm. Fan it as you mix so the grains turn shiny rather than wet. Roll it with sushi nori, serve it with soy sauce, or browse the whole Japanese pantry. Supplying a sushi counter? Our page for restaurants explains how we work with kitchens.
Questions We Get Asked
Which rice is best for sushi?
A Japanese short-grain rice such as Koshihikari or Akitakomachi gives the classic sticky, glossy texture. Calrose is a medium-grain rice that many sushi kitchens also use and is easy to cook in volume.
Can I use Calrose rice for sushi?
Yes. Calrose cooks soft and slightly sticky, so it shapes well for rolls and nigiri. Homai Brown Calrose is labelled for sushi preparation.
What sizes does the sushi rice come in?
Right now the range is in kitchen sizes: Sunwhite Calrose in 10kg, and the short-grain and Homai bags in 22.68kg sacks.
Do you deliver sushi rice to restaurants?
Yes. We deliver Monday to Saturday to Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Abu Dhabi, with the same clear prices for restaurants and home cooks.
When will my order arrive?
Order before 6am and we'll deliver the same day where available. Delivery in Dubai is free on orders over AED 150. You can also collect from the GGFT warehouse in Dubai Investment Park 2, Monday to Saturday, 8am to 5pm (closed on Sundays and public holidays).
