Basil syrup, 700ml, from Monin, produced in Malaysia. The taste is fresh basil, herbal and a little savoury, not a sweet green syrup with a hint of herb. Bars use it where basil would have been clapped between the hands.

A basil gin sour or a basil margarita is the usual cocktail. Strawberry and basil is the mocktail. Italian sodas, lemonades, and iced tea take it when the drink should taste like the leaf. A dessert sauce is the kitchen use, in small amounts.
